The YinYang music notation is a new technique or type of music notation where the musical notes are represented by stripes or lines like in MIDI editors but pitch is indicated by their positions in relation to contrasting symbols, shapes or ideograms,  resulting in a less cluttered alternative to the traditional staff of lines or bands.

This technique is a significant improvement of readability over the usually hard to sight read piano staff used in piano roll viewers to turn it into a less cluttered and more readable and useful natation system.

It has been named after the old Chinese philosophic principle that two opposites (Yin & Yang) attract, enhance, complement or give rise to each other when interact. The traditional staff notation with lines (Yin) and contrasting note heads (Yang), and the piano keyboard with white/long keys (Yin) and contrasting black/short keys (Yang) are examples of the Yin Yang principle and of how sometimes it may play a role as part of our selection mechanism.

Such as staff notation was the product of the times of the quill, the YinYang notation is the product of the era of computers and technology with necessary additional advantagesAs another versatile notation technique, many variants and choices are possible with some unique possibilities that may complement the traditional notation and make some contribution to music education.
